U.S. News and World Report has listed Bremen Health Care Center as one of "America’s Best Nursing Homes"
The selection was based on data collected from Nursing Home Compare, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services program that ranks facilities on measures of care, nurse staffing, health inspections and overall care. Each section may reach a five-star score, indicating the highest achievement.

BREMEN HEALTH CARE CENTER REHAB DEPARTMENT RECEIVES CENTER OF EXCELLENCE AWARD
The rehab department at Bremen Health Care Center was named the top rehab department in seven states based on patient care, expense management and customer satisfaction.
The award was based on an analysis of the rehab department’s work among all rehab departments in approximately 80 nursing centers in seven states in the Central Region of Kindred Healthcare’s Health Services Division. Rehab services are provided in Kindred’s nursing centers by Peoplefirst rehabilitation services, which is an operating subsidiary of Kindred Healthcare. Peoplefirst therapists provide such services as physical, occupational and speech-language therapies.
The award was based on three categories: Excellence in Clinical Care, Operational Excellence and Customer Satisfaction.
Excellence in Clinical Care is based on the rehab team’s success in treating patients with multiple disorders and also having good success in programs like urinary incontinence, pulmonary rehab, cognitive dementia management, wound care and fall preventions.
Operational Excellence is based on the department’s ability to provide the best clinical care while managing operational expenses.
Customer Satisfaction is based on the results of customer satisfaction surveys and reflects the many residents that the therapists have helped go home to live independently or with their loved ones.
Bremen is a skilled nursing facility with both short-term and long-term placement. The goal of the therapists is to rehab both long and short term residents to be as independent as possible. Therapists at Bremen provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.
Bremen Health Care Center Named Recipient of AHCA Quality Award
Bremen Health Care Center’s efforts are now receiving national recognition. Bremen Health Care Center is a 2005 recipient of the American Health Care Association Quality Award.
There are approximately 16,000 nursing homes in the country. Bremen Health Care Center is one of 134 long-term care facilities in 37 states and one of only five facilities in Indiana that earned the Quality Award this year.
The AHCA Quality Award is modeled after criteria from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s premier recognition for quality achievement. The AHCA award recognizes commitment to a continuous quality improvement process. The facilities selected have made customer satisfaction and quality outcomes their top priority.
A ceremony for award recipients was conducted in October at the National AHCA Convention.
